SPDP assured of solid support in Mas Gading

LUNDU: PBB deputy information chief Datuk Peter Minos has assured SPDP of the party’s full support in Mas Gading in the coming general election.

Minos, who is also PBB Opar Branch chairman, said the party had even set up its operation room here to assist SPDP in the election.

“We follow our leaders’ decisions without question. So, we in PBB Opar and Tasik Biru branches will do our best for BN victory in Mas Gading. Our (Opar) branch has already set an operation room for this purpose and directive has also been given to all our members to help SPDP all the way.

“There is no two-way about it. Mas Gading is a very tough seat because some former SPDP members calling themselves BN pro-BN may have different ideas.

“If BN faces Pakatan Rakyat, there is clear line. We thus appeal to pro-BN members to set aside their differences and just act as one BN. There must be no BN versus BN because Pakatan will exploit it to their advantage,” he said here Monday night.

Also present at the gathering were the recommended BN candidate Anthony Nogeh from SPDP, its secretary-general Datuk Nelson Balang Rining and Opar assemblyman Ranum Mina who led a group of SUPP members to show their support for Nogeh.

Minos said if BN pro-BN groups were to act as one, Mas Gading could be won easily because the seat had always been a BN stronghold.

“No point to harp on the past. No point to open old wounds. Now BN members in Mas Gading must unite and face Pakatan in solidarity,” he added.

Minos further said SPDP as a BN partner had every right to nominate its candidate and its choice must be respected by all parties, including the Group of Five (G5) led by Datuk Peter Nansian.

He said the voters should not be influenced by the opposition and G5’s propaganda and accusations.

The G5, comprising sacked members of SPDP, had been promoting the idea of incumbent Datuk Dr Tiki Lafe to stand as a direct BN candidate.

The idea was however shot down after Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced in Kuching last week that BN would only field candidates from the component parties.
