KAPIT: The money for the second 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M 2.0) is from the profit made by the government from investment, taxes and service charges collected from the people and not borrowed from foreign banks.
Land Development Minister Tan Sri Dr James Masing said this when officiating at the presentation of BR1M 2.0 for upper Baleh areas at Rumah Laso at Nanga Antawau, Baleh yesterday morning.
“The government has the money as a result of its good governance through the profits from its investment and from the people. As a caring government, part of the money is now given back to the people through BR1M and the schooling aid,” he said.
He explained that the government wanted to share its wealth with the people as it cared for their wellbeing in line
with its ‘Promises Fulfilled’ slogan.
For Kapit, he said some RM7.6 million would be distributed to more than 16,000 successful applicants there.
“The amount of RM250 each for single individuals has been received by the Resident’s and District Office and will be distributed later,” he added.
With him at the function were Deputy Resident Mohd Ihkmal Abdullah, a political secretary to the Chief Minister Wilson Nyabong Ijang, Masing’s private secretary and PRS nominated candidate for Hulu Rajang Wilson Ugak Kumbong, SAO Robert Liman Deli, Information Department officer Koh Kumbong, Penghulu Jampi Rawing, councillors and several village headmen.
Payment for the first batch of BR1M 2.0 recipients from Baleh was held at the Indoor Stadium of the Integrated Sports Complex here on February 4, which was officiated by Hulu Rajang MP Datuk Billy Abit Joo.
The disbursement is carried out by three teams from the Resident’s Office.
The next disbursement will be carried out at: Rumah Unggat (today), Rumah Tukau (Feb 19), Rumah Stewart Sambang (Feb 20 to 21) and Bletih Stdadium (Feb 27 to 28).
