JITRA: Come Saturday, the Kedah Red Wave movement has targeted more than 5,000 youths to participate in its ‘Save Kedah’ rally at Charok Batang Padi in Tasik Pedu, in protest against the state government’s blatant rape of the area’s forest.

The movement’s coordinator, Anas Hafiz Mustafa, said the rally was a campaign by the social media and non-governmental organisations, dubbed #savekedah, via Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

“A week after Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak launched #savekedah through his Twitter, we received 235,000 mentions in the social website.

“This shows that many among the community, especially the youth, are with us in objecting to the Kedah Government’s action,” he said. — Bernama
