KUALA LUMPUR: Police found the weight of three-year-old Muhammad Irfan Raiyan Mohammad Shahnaz, believed to be a child abuse victim, to have dropped drastically from 11kg last year, to only eight kilogrammes when he was found dead on Jan 31.

Kajang district police chief ACP Ab Rashid Ab Wahab said according to a nutrition expert, the drastic drop in the boy’s weight indicated that he was not only physically abused, but also not well fed.

“When the lifeless body of the boy was found, the forensic team took its weight and it was eight kilogrammes. A boy his age should be about 15kg,” he told a media conference.

The lifeless body of Muhammad Irfan Raiyan was found by his mother when she wanted to wake him up on Jan 31.

According to the autopsy report, the cause of death was a blow to the head. There were also bruises and whipping marks on the victim’s chest, back and legs. — Bernama
