‘Defend solidarity, unity and teamwork’

TAWAU: Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman urged the people of Sabah to continue to defend their solidarity, unity and team spirit to ensure continuous harmony in the state.

He said it was because of these spirit that the people of Sabah and Malaysia in general who were from various races and beliefs were able to celebrate various festivities together.

“We want to live in a country, or state, peacefully. We reject street demonstrations, chaos and riots because they bring no benefit at all for us,” he said in his speech at a Chinese New Year open house organised by Tawau Gerakan here yesterday.

Also present at the function were Gerakan vice-president Tan Liew Yun Fah, Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk A Kohilan Pillay and Sabah Assistant Finance Minister Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan.

Citing the open house as an example, he said people of all races and beliefs were present, despite the occasion being a celebration for the Chinese community.

This proves the strong feeling of togetherness among Malaysians, nurtured by the government under Barisan Nasional (BN), he added.

Hence, he said, the people should be thankful to the BN government under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak for implementing various policies aimed at unity the people.

The people should also be thankful to the BN for introducing various aid, like the 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) and the early schooling aid, to ease the people’s burden, he added. – Bernama
