PAPAR: A foreigner was killed while his wife sustained serious injuries and is presently in critical condition at the district hospital after they were attacked by a group of people at a beach at Kampung Pengalat Besar, here on Sunday.

Nani Mansi, 31, an IMM13 card holder, succumbed to injuries inflicted after being stabbed more than 10 times with sharp objects by his attackers just after midnight on Feb 10.

The deceased’s wife, identified as Noraminah Bahari, 25, also an IMM13 card holder, had seven stab wounds and is currently being treated at the Papar hospital where she is reported to be in a critical condition.

District police chief, DSP George Rakman, said as a result of investigation following the incident, police have detained three illegal immigrants yesterday.

“Three men have been detained in Kota Kinabalu to assist us in this investigation and we believe there may be others involved in this case,” he said yesterday.

According to George, police believe the motive of the attack was revenge as none of the victims’ belongings were stolen from the scene.

He urged anyone with information pertaining to the case to come forward to assist police in their investigation, which is being carried out under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
