KOTA KINABALU: Selangor book a berth in the FA Cup quarter-finals after defeating Sabah 3-0 in the second round of the tournament at the Likas Stadium yesterday.
Francis Forkey Doe became Selangor’s hero when he not only made a breakthrough in the 47th minute by capitalising on a free kick taken by Solihin Kanasian, but also sealed the issue beyond doubt in the 87th minute.
Mohd Raimi Md Nor made it two up for Selangor in the 52nd minute.
Selangor coach Irfan Bakti Abu Salim told reporters that he was satisfied with the team’s performance even though some players did not live up to his expectations.
“For this match, I was targeting only a 1-0 win for it was a knockout match to enable Selangor to advance to the next round.
“However, wh en the players succeeded in scoring three goals, we take pride in the victory,” he said. — Bernama
