KUCHING: The presence of fans at the State Stadium in Petra Jaya might be the remedy needed by the state President’s Cup team in order to end their losing streak in the ongoing league.

With Sarawak losing all of the past three matches, a good crowd turn out by the local fans may boost the players’ morale and confidence.

The Young Crocs will be gunning for their first win in the coming match against Terengganu today at 4.15pm.

Unlike the senior team, Sarawak’s President’s Cup matches are often played in an empty venue with only a few spectators watching and supporting their respective teams play.

The team’s chief coach, Anai Igang @ Mohd Farhan Abdullah agreed that the presence of fans at their matches will make a world of difference and he hoped for local fans show come to the stadium to support for their struggling junior team.

“We need the support from the fans as their attendance could boost the morale of the team… with their support we hope that the team might record its first win tomorrow (today),” he commented.

He however lamented that the team’s defence was below par during recent matches, conceding an alarming 10 goals out of the three matches played so far.

“I did notice that our defence had communication problems when playing as they seemed to have little understanding with each other… I hope the defence show some improvements tomorrow (today) when we face Terengganu,” he said.

Mohd Farhan however commented that he is happy with the improvements shown by the team’s forward department and hope the whole team will gradually show an improvement in coming matches.

“I have made a few changes especially in the midfield and defence… we’ll have to wait to see if the plan works,” he added.
