BN govt brings devt to all, MP assures Iban chiefs

SIBU: Lanang MP Tiong Thai King said Barisan Nasional (BN) had been very consistent in carrying out development projects, both in the rural and urban areas.

He cited his own constituency as an example where infrastructure development in the rural areas could easily be seen.

And because of that, he assured longhouse folks that they need not worry about not getting basic infrastructures such as clean water and electricity supply anymore.

“Another good news is that ‘Machan Extension Water Supply’ is expected to be completed this June or July.

“When completed, the Iban community will enjoy clean water supply,” he said, adding that the project reflected BN’s continuous effort to provide the people with basic amenities and other facilities.

On his part as their MP, he said he had a responsibility to ensure that infrastructure projects were implemented to provide the people convenience and an environment conducive for living.

“I always make sure and monitor the development of the infrastructures such as clean water supply, electricity supply and roads to link the rural and the urban areas,” he said.

He was speaking during a meeting with Iban community leaders from Lanang constituency at the Civic Centre here yesterday.

Among those present were Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, his wife Puan Sri Ragad Kurdi Taib, Second Minister of Finance and Minister of Local Government and Community Development Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh and Second Minister of Resource Planning and Environment Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan.

He also said the government always endeavoured to uplift the standard of living of the people through various projects.

He reminded them that under Taib’s leadership, Sarawak would be a developed state by 2030 because of his strong leadership quality which had brought about a strong economy and ample job opportunities.
