Two Russian women fined RM6,000 each

KOTA KINABALU: Two Russian women were each fined RM6,000, in default, six months’ jail for soliciting for the purpose of prostitution.

Lilia Akimbeteva and Elena Kunakova, both 37, pleaded guilty before magistrate Herlina Muse to their separate charges framed under Section 372B of the Penal Code.

The offence carries a maximum jail of one year and also liable to a fine, upon conviction.

They were caught during an operation at a hotel here at 10.15pm on Feb 5.

The two accused persons who were defended by counsel Ram Singh spoke in English.
