MELAKA: The Kota Laksamana Barisan Nasional (BN) operations room at Jalan Laksamana 8, here, was splashed with red paint early yesterday.

The splashing incident, believed to have happened in the early hours of the morning, was discovered by staff who were sleeping in the operation’s room at about 7am. The frontage of the operations room and signage were splashed with red paint that was thrown in two plastic bags.

Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam believed it was the work of irresponsible opposition members who were not satisfied with the service provided by Barisan Nasional (BN) government to the people in the area.

“This is a provocative action by the opposition after seeing the kind of support for BN since we are able to successfully solve various problems raised by the people,” he told reporter when asked to comment on the incident.

He said parties involved in such an action should not be disappointed with BN and must respect the democratic system practiced in the country.

Meanwhile, PPP Melaka chairman Datuk Chiw Tiang Chai who visited the operations room said they will install closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras to prevent similar incidents in the future.

“We will also lodge a police report on the incident,” he added. — Bernama
