GOPENG: Kampung Baru Kopisan here transformed into a lively festive atmosphere when approximately 10,000 people from different races gathered for the state’s Chinese New Year celebrations, here, yesterday.
Gracing the event, that begun at 10am this morning, were the Regent of Perak Raja Dr Nazrin Shah and wife Tuanku Zara Salim, Raja Dihilir Perak Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa and Raja Puan Muda Perak Raja Nor Mahani Raja Shahar Shah.
Also present were Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha and MCA president Datuk Seri Chua Soi Lek.
Guests were entertained by various performances including popular singer Shila Amzah, cultural dance, 1Malaysia dance, the dragon dance and Chinese drums. — Bernama
