People urged to put trust in security forces

LAHAD DATU: The people are urged to put their trust on the police and the military to handle an armed group that had entered Kampung Tanduo in Lahad Datu, last Tuesday.

Silam member of parliament Dr Salleh Kalbi said everything was under control and people should not worry.

He advised the people not to listen to rumours spread by irresponsible parties as the situation is well under control by security forces.

“I believe with the commitment and responsibilities of the security forces, the situation would be solved soon,” said Salleh in a press conference at Felda Residence here, yesterday.

Meanwhile, Salleh hoped the Home Minister or the relevant authorities would consider the establishment of an air force base here, to increase the level of security at the longest coastal beach in Malaysia, Silam.

He said safety facilities should be upgraded and security operations such as ‘Ops Pasir’ in Sandakan and Tawau, should be extended for the safety of Silam waters.

“I hope the people will trust the security forces and the government which always strives to maintain national peace.

“I also hope no parties will take the opportunity to manipulate this situation and frighten the people as everything is under control,” he added.
