Lodge, Chung Hua No. 1, Lumba Kuda and Rakyat for inter-school netball semi-finals

KUCHING: Tournament favourites Lodge Primary School and SJK Chung Hua No.1 have both qualified for the semi-finals of this year’s Kuching Zone A Inter-School Netball Championship after they emerged as winners in their respective group league matches played at SMK Tabuan Jaya yesterday.

Lodge Primary School, which was last year’s runner-up, won all of their Group B matches.

SJK Chung Hua No.1, runner up in 2011 and third last year, won all of their matches in Group C.

Lodge Primary were unstoppable in the group matches and scored a total of 65 goals while SJK Chung Hua No.1’s tally was 56 goals.

SK Satria Jaya, champions in 2010-2012, failed to enter today’s semi-final after losing two out of their three matches in Group A.

The other two semi-finalists are SK Lumba Kuda and SK Rakyat who topped Group D and Group A respectively.

SJK Chung Hua No.1 will meet SK Lumba Kuda in the first semifinal at 12 noon today (Feb 21) followed by Lodge Primary School facing SK Rakyat in the second semifinal.

The final will be played after results of the semifinal round are announced.

A total of 16 schools took part in this year’s event aimed at selecting Kuching Zone A representatives for centralised training to prepare for the coming Kuching Inter-Zone Championship to be held in Lundu from March 6 to 7.

According to the organising committee spokesperson Haida Kiflie, the response towards this year’s event was encouraging with an additional two schools competing compared to 14 teams last year.
