LAHAD DATU: Investments along the east coast of Sabah, including the Palm Oil Industrial Cluster (POIC) and this district, have not been affected by the incursion of a Filipino militia group through Kampung Tanduo, near here on Feb 12.

Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office Datuk Nasrun Datu Mansur said the situation in Lahad Datu had not impacted the economic situation, which was progressing smoothly, with investors still having confidence in the district’s potential.

He was speaking to reporters after officiating the opening of the second cement packaging plant in Lahad Datu yesterday.

Nasrun also said that security forces had the situation well under control.

“The various development projects planned, particularly the POIC, is progressing well and all plans will continue to be implemented.

“Al factories and business premises in the district are operating as usual and unaffected by the incursion incident which will definitely end well,” he added.

Malaysian security forces who came across the group of armed Filipinos in army fatigues last Tuesday have identified them as descendants of “Raja Sulu” from Southern Philippines.

They are currently holed up at Kampung Tanduo, about 130 kilometers from here.
