KUCHING: Two suspected thieves were released on RM3,000 court bail with one surety each after they pleaded not guilty yesterday.
Both suspects appeared before Magistrate Maris Agan with Inspector Yunus Sahak prosecuting.
The suspects were nabbed by undercover policemen when they broke into a house at Taman Xafa Villa, Mile 10, on Feb 12. The cops, who had been monitoring their movements, pounced when the duo tried to force open the grille of the house.
They are charged under Section 448 of the Penal Code. The penalty is a jail term of up to a year or fine of up to RM2,000, or both, upon conviction.
According to the facts of the case, police personnel patrolling Taman Xafa Villa on Feb 12 night spotted the suspects acting suspiciously when they climbed over the gate of the house.
They monitored the suspects for about 15 minutes before moving in. The suspects tried to escape but failed.
