KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) Women’s request for more women candidates in the 13th General Election will be discussed and forwarded to the central leadership for consideration, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman.

Speaking to reporters after the launch of Sabah BN Women Gelombang Biru election machinery at the State Sports Complex in Likas yesterday, Musa said the BN central leadership is aware of the women’s vital role in determining the outcome of the general election.

“Of course we will discuss about it and we will forward it to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak. We know our women wings are very important.

“We have submitted women candidates for the general election, and it will be depending on the Prime Minister to decide,” he said.

Musa said the recent visit by Primi Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to Sabah reflected the grassroots support for BN.

He said all leaders, especially in Sabah, will work together with the other component parties to ensure the victory in the previous general election will be repeated.

“Sabah BN’s strong unity and understanding will lead to another big win despite stiff challenge from the opposition.  Our supporters including Sabah Wanita BN are eager to ensure victory for our candidates.”

Sabah BN nearly made a clean sweep, winning 59 of 60 state seats and 24 of 25 parliamentary seats contested in the last general election in 2008.

Commenting on the statement by Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat of PAS who likened the distribution of BR1M as feeding livestock, he said it was an insult to the people who need aid.

“The Prime Minister gives BR1M 1.0 and BR1M 2.0 in good faith to lighten the burden of the people.

Also present were Wanita BN chairman Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, Sabah Umno deputy liaison chairman Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak and Sabah Umno Women chief Datuk Armani Mahiruddin.
