KUCHING: Wan Abdillah carded a good nett score of 63 to win the Group A title of the KGS Chinese New Year Special at the Sarawak Golf Club (KGS) in Petra Jaya yesterday.
He collected a RM800 cash voucher for the day’s work in the KGS 2013 curtain-raiser event.
Coming in second three strokes adrift was Abang Ibrahim while Shahminan was third on 68.
Fourth was David Liew with a 69, beating youngster Mohd Nur Aiman into fifth spot on count back (OCB).
The Group A gross title was won by seasoned golfer Mohd Lokman who returned a score of 76, finishing three strokes ahead of Jimmie Teo (OCB) and Waili Abang.
Ahmad Abdul Razak lifted the Group B nett title when he carded a 67 score.
Two strokes further in second place was Kamel Maderi who beat Ahmad Tarmizy into third spot on count back after both had similar scores of 69.
Fourth to sixth were Haidel Heli (70 OCB), Lim Sin Kiat and Jack Kamin (71 OCB) respectively.
The winner of the Ladies nett contest was Latifah Bujang who returned a score of 70, finishing just a stroke ahead of Livan Deng.
Laura Goh took the Ladies gross title with her score of 86.
More than 100 golfers took part in the one-day competition which also witnessed a lucky draw and a Chinese New Year Open House.
KGS will next host the 18-team KGS Team Matchplay this Saturday.
