BEAUFORT: A total of 70 Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) members here have quit to join Umno, citing disappointment and lost of confidence in the party.

Beaufort division SAPP committee member Saidi Kasni led the group to submit Umno membership forms to Beaufort Wanita Umno division chief Datuk Azizah Mohd Dun in a ceremony in Kg Binunuk here on Sunday.

In welcoming them, Azizah said the SAPP members quit as they were disappointed with the party leaders who did not fulfill their promises.

“They are convinced that only Barisan Nasional (BN) is good for them, their children and people in Sabah,” she said when met here.

Meanwhile, Saidi who sat on Beaufort SAPP committee since 2008 said he and the other members had lost confidence in the party.

“SAPP is not concerned about our welfare and made empty promises. Ultimately, it was BN that came to our aid,” he said. — Bernama
