KUCHING: A team overhaul looks imminent as Sarawak was again defeated 1-2 at the hands of Pulau Pinang in the President’s Cup yesterday.

Team manager Haidel Heli said that he has seen enough and would have to get to the root of the problems facing the team.

“We simply need to perform better. Languishing at the bottom of the table with the team yet to win any match is clearly not the thing that any team wants to experience in a competition,” he added.

Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) president Datu Sudarsono Osman and other top officials were also present to watch the match.

Sudarsono had commented recently that he would attend yesterday’s match to assess the team’s performace.

Sudarsono was not available for comments after the match.

Sarawak struggled to gain ball possession in a match that was played in the mid-field for the large part.

Nevertheless, the young Crocs scored first thanks to an own goal by Pulau Pinang’s Sanjef Dinesh in the 36th minute.

Pulau Pinang, however, swiftly replied with a goal five minutes later. Ironically, it was also an own goal by Sarawak resulting from a defensive mistake. Sarawak seemed to lose concentration after the equaliser and Pulau Pinang capitalised by scoring the second goal just before half time. Sanjef went from villain to hero as he scored the crucial goal that clinched victory for his team.

Sarawak tried desperately to find the equaliser but in vain.
