KOTA KINABALU: Youths and operators of local small and medium industries (SMIs) in Sabah have been urged to take the opportunity and apply for fundings through the various loan products offered by SME Bank Bhd (SME Bank).

Making this call, SME Bank’s operations chief for Kota Kinabalu, Mohd Asri Abu Hanit, said the funds were intended to help young people and SMIs keen to start or have already started their businesses.

“SME Bank has been regularly providing assistance to them via various syariah based financial schemes.

“These funds were established by the government as an alternative for young entrepreneurs in getting the financing to start their businesses or to cater to the needs of an existing business,” Mohd Asri said during a briefing here yesterday on the Young Entrepreneur Fund programme offered by SME Bank.

The briefing was held for a group of youths and entrepreneurs in conjunction with a roadshow on SME Bank’s Young Entrepreneur Fund programme, which was launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on February 15.

The roadshow was the third following two earlier events held in Ipoh and Kuala Lumpur respectively. — Bernama
