‘Ghost’ sent to mental hospital

TAWAU: A 35-year-old man who allegedly stabbed two women, a girl and a boy after telling them that he was a ghost was yesterday ordered by the Sessions Court here to be sent to Bukit Padang Hospital in Kota Kinabalu for one month to evaluate his mental state.

Sarip bin Aling, who was charged before judge Egusra Ali with four counts of attempted murder under Section 307 of the Penal Code, allegedly stabbed Lampisa bte Ligadding, 63, Emilina bte Sulbirain, 17, Masnah bte Zulkarnain, 11, and Amri bin Lajani, 9.

The incident happened on February 6 about 2.30pm at an unnumbered house in Kampung Halo, Semporna.

The court heard that the accused told the victims he was a ghost while entering their house and starting to attack them with a kitchen knife.

One of the victims’ father, with the help from villagers, managed to apprehend the accused who was believed to be a glue addict and mentally unstable.
