PUTRAJAYA: The Sessions Court was yesterday told that a woman had restrained a security guard from taking any action by pushing him on the chest with her left palm, while holding a sword in her right hand.

Kamarunzaman Samat, 58, (rpt: Kamarunzaman Samat), who identified the woman as Muhdalena Ahmad, said she also told him that she was from the Al-Maunah group and that she was prepared to die no matter what happened that day.

He said he tried to pacify the woman and also a man who was with her.

Kamarunzaman, who retired from the job last Jan 5, said the man, who had a sword in his hand, also said he was prepared to die on that day.

Kamarunzaman said he went to Complex B of the Prime Minister’s Department on July 9 last year after being informed by someone that there was an amok incident there.

At that time, he said, he was a senior security guard at the Prime Minister’s Department and was in the Parcel A area when informed on the incident about 2.30pm.

“I tried to calm down the situation. The man asked me to follow him. When I refused he became angry. He forced me. I tried to calm down the situation again. I thought it would pacify him by doing as he asked,” he said.

Kamarunzaman said the man immediately threw his sword on the ground when he (Kamarunzaman) agreed to join him.

He then knelt on the ground and thanked me, he added.

However, he said, the situation turned critical when a member of the public attempted to help him, which angered the man, who then asked Muhdalena to hand him back his sword.

“He was angry at me and ordered me to sit and threatened to chop off my head,” he added.

Kamarunzaman also told the court that the man requested to meet the Prime Minister and when told that the Prime Minister was not in, requested to meet the officers, including his (Kamarunzaman) superior officer.

He related to the court when he took the man and Muhdalena to an air-conditioned room

The man asked for drinks and cigarettes and I took him and Muhdalena to an air-conditioned room as he had complained feeling hot because of the weather, he added.

“At first he followed me. When I went into the room, I found him missing. He had walked back to the public area,” said Kamarunzaman, adding that he did not follow the man, but went to Parcel B and then heard three shots.

About 10 minutes later, from a distance, I saw the man against a pole and the woman by his side and they were surrounded by policemen, he added.

Earlier, security guard, Hasliza Ramli, 34, in her testimony, said she saw a man running into Complex B and shouting “Allahuakbar” and then heard three shots.

Hasliza, who did a body search on Muhdalena, after being instructed by a policeman to do so, said she found no weapon on her, except a black mascara, a packet of medicine and a handphone.

She said Muhdalena was shot on the thigh and accompanied her in the ambulance to the hospital.

While in the ambulance, Hasliza said Muhdalena told the purpose of their coming to the complex which was “to help the peasants from being oppressed by those higher up and meet with the Prime Minister to discuss religious matters”.

Muhdalena, 28, from Kota Damansara, is facing four charges under the Penal Code, the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958 and the Restricted Area and Prohibited Places Act 1959.

She is accused of criminal intimidation with intent to cause grievous hurt to an auxiliary police personnel, Lance Corporal Ridzuan Megat Ahmad, in the vicinity of Complex B of the Prime Minister’s Department at 2.30 pm on July 9, 2012.

The charge, under Section 506 of the Penal Code, carries a jail term of up to seven years or a fine, or both, upon conviction.

Muhdalena has also been charged with possession of a weapon (sword) at the same place and time under Section 7(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958, which carries a jail term of up to two years and a maximum fine of RM2,000, or both, upon conviction.

For the charges under the Restricted Area and Prohibited Places Act, Muhdalena is alleged to have disobeyed Ridzuan’s orders to put down the sword and for failing to abide by a minister’s order to obtain a pass or permit before entering the premises.
