KOTA KINABALU: The website of Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) was attacked for two consecutive days on February 25 and 26 by hackers or cybertroopers.

“Service was temporarily unavailable on and off on February 26 when Internet viewers surfing to SAPP’s website at sapp.org.my received the message ‘Service Unavailable’ on the website,” its information chief, Chong Pit Fah, said in a statement.

He said the party’s website had experienced an abnormal increase in its web traffic with over 36,000 visits within a period of a few hours yesterday.

“Although SAPP’s website is visited by a few thousand Internet viewers per day, this sudden increase in the number of hits is considered abnormal and it is suspected that hackers or cybertroopers are at work trying to block viewers by jamming the website server. This is the second time the website was attacked.

The last time the SAPP website was under cyber attack was with the “distributed denial of service (DDoS)”.
