BN confident of winning Kalabakan seats

TAWAU: Kalabakan Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Ghapur Salleh is confident that BN will sweep all the Kalabakan seats in the coming 13th general election, repeating the history of its success in the 2004 and 2008 general elections.

Ghapur was referring to the four seats, the Kalabakan parliamentary seat and the Tanjung Batu, Merotai and Sebatik state seats.

“We are confident that our success in Kalabakan for BN in 2004 and 2008 will be repeated.

Preparations for the 13th general election are already underway, including the preparation of machinery and operations room in 19 district voting centres (MPS) in this area,” he said.

For the record, all electoral seats in the area are represented by Datuk Hamisa Samat (Tanjung Batu), Abdul Muis Pichu (Sebatik) — both from Umno, and Datuk Pang Yuk Ming (Merotai) from LDP.

Ghapur who is also Umno division chief also serves as the Kalabakan member of parliament.

Meanwhile, Sebatik assemblyman Abdul Muis urged residents of Sebatik to contact him directly if they had problems or to find out about the current development in the area.

According to him, various development projects had been successfully implemented by BN in the last few years in the area, including the construction of infrastructure facilities such as roads, community hall, surau and mosques, bridges, sports courts and so on.
