KUCHING: Close cooperation among the Chinese associations is vital for the benefit of its members.

Stampin MP Datuk Yong Khoon Seng said not only that, the cooperation and support from the leaders and members would enable the associations to reach greater heights of success in the future for the betterment of all.

He said this at the Batu Kawa Chung Hua Association Chinese New Year celebration held at Batu Kawa old bazaar on Tuesday night.

Yong, therefore, commended the hard work and commitment of past and present leaders and members in bringing the association to what it is today in terms of its role and achievements.

“I hope residents in Batu Kawa will continue to give their fullest support and cooperation to the association and make sure all the programmes or plans are carried out smoothly,” he said.

He hoped more associations would pool their resources together and organise more events for the benefit of the society at large.

It is not easy to work in a big group but if they want to make their plan a success, he said advising the members to be sincere and open minded always.

“Don’t plant yourselves firmly in your own ideas but you must learn to listen to the opinions and suggestions of others and accept them if they are good.

“Teamwork is the key to success, so always work together as a team. Should any problem arise, try your best to solve it together,” Yong, who is also Works Deputy Minister, said and pledged that he would try and help the associations whenever he is needed.
