KUALA SELANGOR: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak went on a walkabout at the Saujana Utama Mall near here yesterday, where he was greeted by thousands of people, many of them attired in Barisan Nasional (BN) and 1Malaysia For Youth (1MFU) T-Shirts.

The prime minister said he was moved by their patience and warm welcome they accorded him.

The public were clearly happy to have Najib visit them, with many rushing forward to shake his hand and take the opportunity to be photographed with the country’s leader.

Addressing the crowd, he said, if a piece of land was available, the government would build a secondary school in Saujana Utama.

Najib said he would look into broadening the roads for the comfort of the residents, following their request.

He also asked: “Boleh BN menang kali ini? (Can BN win (Selangor) this time?), and the enthusiastic crowd replied, “Boleh!” (Can).

Earlier, Najib visited a car wash outlet set up by 1MFU, with the cooperation of Majls Belia Selangor, and symbolically wiped and tested a Proton Saga car there.

He also had breakfast with Selangor BN deputy chairman Datuk Seri Noh Omar and several community leaders in Saujana Utama, subsequently eating durian with them.

Meanwhile, Saujana Utama Umno branch chief Abd Hamid Salihan said he had forwarded a request to Najib to build a complex in Saujana Utama, comprising a primary and seconday school to cater to the needs of the surrounding community.

He said currently, there were three schools in Saujana Utama, adding that they were insufficient to cater to the needs of the people.

Abd Hamid said he had also asked Najib to consider broadening the roads leading to Guthrie and Puncak Alam for the residents of Saujana Utama. — Bernama
