KUALA LUMPUR: Former Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers president, Tan Sri Mustafa Mansur, has been appointed as chairman of the Malaysian Standards and Accreditation Council(MSAC) for the term of 2013-2014.

In a statement  yesterday, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili, said Mustafa will replace Tan Sri Tajudin Ali whose term ended in December 2012.

“With his immense experience and network, Mustafa is well-positioned to help the MSAC achieve its mission towards meeting the agenda of quality and global competitiveness for industries in Malaysia,” he said.

Ongkili said Mustafa is well-poised to support the continuing objective of the MSAC, through consensus with industries, the publishing of market-relevant standards, and aiding the process of turning Malaysia into a high-income country.
