MIRI: Stealing four packs of Colgate toothpaste is costly for Agong Boya, for he has to pay by serving one week’s jail as ordered by the Magistrate’s Court here.
Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles granted the order yesterday after the accused pleaded guilty to the case mentioned to him.
Agong, 51, from Jalan Majlis, Krokop 2, admitted stealing four packs of Colgate toothpaste worth RM52.80 which he kept with Marlvin Dunstan.
He committed the offence at 8.30am on March 2 at Nam Leong Supermarket at Kingsway Street.
He was charged under Section 380 of the Penal Code read together with Section 34 of the same code which provides for a jail term of 10 years and fine upon conviction.
Chief Inspector Mary Ong prosecuted.
