SIBU: Sibu Football Association will stage a Class 3 Football Referee Course from May 16 to 17 at Sibu Prison Department in Awang Ramli Amit Road here.
Participation fee is RM100 per head.
Association secretary Hajjis Abdul said participation forms may be obtained from him (0194388643).
He said an experienced referee from Football Association of Sarawak (FAS), Kuching would conduct the course.
Hajjis noted that the number of football referees here was dwindling He hoped that the course would inject more enthusiasm into potential referees to engage in active refereeing.
“We used to have some 40 to 50 referees at one time.
“Today, we only have about 20 referees.
“And among the 20, only about 10 are active referees,” he said.
Hajjis said they needed to beef up the numbers of referees so that they could provide enough referees for the increasing number of football competitions.
