UMP, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia collaborate to produce international standard engineers

KUALA LUMPUR: Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) and Mercedes-Benz Malaysia yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)to together produce graduates in automotive engineering of international standard.

UMP vice-chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Daing Nasir Ibrahim said the MoU was aimed at enabling UMP student to carry out industrial training with Mercedes-Benz.

“This MoU is one of the activities contained in the 2011-2015 UMP Strategic Plan.

“Through this collaboration, UMP will produce high performing graduates who would be able to meet the market demands in the automotive field,” he told reporters after the MoU signing.

Daing Nasir and UMP deputy vice-chancellor (Academic and International)Professor Datuk Dr Ir Badhrulhisham Abdul Aziz signed on behalf of the university, while Mercedes-Benz Malaysia is represented by its vice-president cum Pekan Plant managing director Sebastian Streuff and Human Resource senior manager Matthias Adis.

Meanwhile, Streuff said the collaboration would provide opportunities for UMP students to acquire automotive skills.

“This is where the UMP students can do their internships, and we intend to build up a long-term relationship with the university by hiring its students later on,” he added. — Bernama
