LAHAD DATU: Security forces arrested 27 people in the waters near Kampung Tanjung Batu yesterday.
Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar said they were detained when entering the area under suspicious circumstances.
He said the people claimed that they were fishing when they were arrested at about 10am in three pump boats.
“The suspects were handed to the district police station to assist in police investigation,”said Ismail during an Op Daulat briefing.
“So far, there is no contact between the security forces and the Sulu gunmen,” he added.
