BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN:  The Licensing and Enforcement section of the Brunei-Muara District Office is sending off a stern warning to illegal roadside stall vendors by putting up signboards stating the fine for violators, Borneo Bulletin reported.

The first two signboards were installed at the Jerudong Beach near the parking lots of the Jerudong market where there were a number of illegal stall operators.

The signboard reads ‘Not Permitted To Operate Any Stalls Along This Area Under Section 3 and 7 (1) of the Miscellaneous License Act 1984 Chapter 127’. Also mentioned was that illegal stall operators will face a fine of not more than $10,000.

The aim of putting up the signboards is to inform people not to operate stalls along the area but to look for suitable and legal business premises.

The regulation is enforced to ensure the safety of the stall operators and the public from any untoward incidents as well as to make sure that the area surrounding Jerudong Beach is clean.

The Licensing and Enforcement Section of the Brunei-Muara District Office would like to remind the public to apply for a proper licence before carrying out their business.
