BESUT: Thirty-five PAS members and supporters from Kampung Tok Dor in the Jabi state assembly constituency, Setiu, quit the party to join Umno Saturday night.

Leading them, Ali Bakar, 69, said they’ve lost faith in the struggles of the opposition party and decided to leave in a group.

“They used to question and say Umno members were disbelievers because MCA and MIC are in Barisan Nasional, but nothing is said when PAS collaborates with DAP,” he told reporters.

Ali, who was a PAS member for over 20 years, said they were disappointed by the attitute of PAS leaders who were inconsistent on issues involving the interest of Muslims, including the use of  the word Allah among non-Muslims.

“We just realised the lies of PAS leaders who frequently twist religious issues and leave PAS supporters confused. Previously, PAS members had asked leaders on their stand on the issue of disbelievers, but no one came forward with an explanation and we are disappointed that we can no longer believe their words,” he said.

Ali led the submission of Umno membership application forms to Setiu Umno division secretary, Ismail Samah. — Bernama
