KUCHING: SMK Green Road has been entrusted to organise this year’s Majlis Sukan Sekolah Malaysia (MSSM) Kuching Girls U-18 and U-15 Softball Tournament at SMK St Thomas’s field from Apr 15-19.
Organising chairman Juraimie Junaidi said yesterday that invitation letters have been sent to 42 secondary schools in and around Kuching to take part in the annual tournament.
Juraimie, who is also the teacher in charge of softball in SMK Green Road, said plans were also in place to organise the Boys U-18 and U-15 competition and the dates would be known soon.
He added that SMK Green Road had formed their Girls U-18 team to defend their crown and Girls U-15 team to better their third placing last year.
“We are taking a new approach this year for the U-18 team where the players will be from form two to form five whereas last year we only roped in the form four and form five students,” said Juraimie.
As for the U-15 team, the players will be selected from form one and form two classes.
“Basically, both teams are very new and we have put in much efforts to train them and prepare them for the MSSM Kuching tournament,” he said, adding that the players have been undergoing training since middle of April.
