17-year-old boy stands trial for murder

SIBU: The case of a boy alleged to have killed four members of a family in RTM Road on Jan 3 last year came up for trial at the High Court here yesterday with a lance corporal as the first prosecution witness to testify.

Lance corporal Jerry Muncha told the court he had taken photographs of the crime scene, the accused’s house and the hospital mortuary when post-mortem on the four victims were carried out.

DPP Musli Abdul Hamid prosecuted while Darren Ling represented the accused.

The accused, name withheld for legal reasons, is charged with four murders and an attempted murder.

Ling Tong Hock, a 36-year-old businessman, his mother Leong Nyuk Lan, 76, and two children David, 10, and Amy, 7, were brutally murdered in their double-storey terraced house in the early morning of Jan 3.

Another child, Kelvin, was seriously injured but survived the attack.

The accused was alleged to have killed them using a sledge hammer between 6am and 7.30am in their house in RTM Road.

He was charged with attempted murder on Kevin at the same time and venue.

Hearing before Justice Supang Lian continues today.
