Abu Dhabi crown prince to visit M’sia today

PUTRAJAYA: Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi General Sheikh Mohammed Zayed Al Nahyan will make an official visit to Malaysia today, at the invitation of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

The Crown Prince, who is also Deputy Supreme Commander of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Armed Forces, will meet Najib to discuss issues of mutual interest during the visit.

According to a statement from the foreign ministry yesterday, they will witness the signing of several agreements between Malaysia and the UAE.

Accompanied by several UAE ministers, Sheikh Mohammed Zayed is also expected to visit the Permata institution at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in Bangi.

“Trade and investment relations between Malaysia and UAE have witnessed tremendous growth since the past several years.

“In 2012, UAE was Malaysia’s largest trading partner in the Middle East, with total trade amounting to RM24.8 billion, as compared to RM21.1 billion in 2011.

“In terms of investment, among the UAE companies involved in investment in Malaysia, include Mubadala Development Company (MDC) and National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD),” said the statement.

It said, Malaysia was confident that the visit would further consolidate the existing excellent relations, especially in the area of investment, between Malaysia and UAE. — Bernama
