KOTA KINABALU: A 46-year-old local man, who was charged with two counts of injuring a woman and her daughter, was freed by the magistrates’ court here.

Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus gave a discharge not amounting to an acquittal to Marcel Lojikim after both complainants informed the court that they wished to withdraw their police reports as they had settled the matter out of court.

According to prosecuting officer, Inspector Azaman Hamat, the mother, who was present in court, told magistrate Balitus that Marcel had paid her RM14,000 compensation and another RM1,000 to her daughter. She had also lodged a fresh police report to withdraw her previous report against Marcel.

On the first count, Marcel was alleged to have caused hurt to the 42-year-old woman by using a glass bottle at Dongonggon Town in Penampang on Jan 30.

On the second count, he was accused of injuring the 22-year-old woman at the same place and time.
