Most employees unhappy with bonuses — Survey

KUALA LUMPUR: Of the 49 per cent of Malaysian employees who received bonuses, over half of them said they were dissatisfied, said JobStreet.com annual bonus survey.

In a statement yesterday, online recruitment company, JobStreet, said most industries paid an average of 1.5-month bonus.

“The highest bonuses received, which were six months or more, were from the finance and banking, telecommunications and retail sectors,” it said.

JobStreet said 40 per cent of those surveyed said their bonuses had increased compared to last year and 36 per cent said theirs remained the same while 25 per cent reported lower bonuses.

It said 36 per cent of the respondents said they will leave the company because their bonuses were below expectations and 25 per cent will do so regardless of the bonus factor.

JobStreet.com said bonus and other incentives, such as salary increment and company benefits, remained key factors in retaining employees.

A total of 4,543 employees, of which 66 per cent were senior-level executives, took part in this survey. — Bernama
