MARUDI: The Village and Security Development Committee (JKKK) in longhouses have been advised to form a bureau such as the Motivation Committee which could take care of the longhouses’ economy and their children’s education.
Baram District officer Joseph Belayong said this when speaking at ‘Program Mesra Rakyat’ held at Rumah Atam Jawi here recently.
The event was organised by the Community Development Department, Baram.
This committee could also assist the longhouse chief in managing the longhouse, request for more development projects from government departments and other responsibilities, said Belayong.
He also advised the longhouse folks to support their leaders and reminded the JKKK to use MRP grants, given to them by their elected representative, wisely.
The programme was officiated by Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry Dato Jacob Dungau Sagan.
Also present were political secretary to the Chief Minister Robert Laing Anyie and Kemas senior supervisor Julita Laja.
