KUALA LUMPUR: A man and a woman were killed when the van they were travelling in skidded and plunged into Sungai Bonus at KM 8.1 near the Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE) here yesterday.
The mishap occurred about 2pm. The van, believed to be driven at high speed, skidded and crashed into the railing before it plunged into the river.
The van driver, identified as G Logesvaran, 21, and a passenger, G Nirmaladevi, 41, died at the scene, Kuala Lumpur Traffic investigation and legal staff officer DSP Abdullah Roning said when contacted by Bernama.
Firemen in two engines, with the assistance of members from the Civil Defence Department, were at the scene to extricate the bodies. — Bernama
