Firefighters put out the fire which destroyed some 18 roles of telephone wires that belonged to Telekom Malaysia.
KOTA KINABALU: About 15 to 18 rolls of used telephone wires belonging to Telekom Malaysia were destroyed in a fire at its warehouse in Kepayan here yesterday.
The fire believed started around 1pm at a yard inside the Telekom warehouse and destroyed about 15 to 18 rolls of phone wires.
Fire and Rescue Service assistant fire chief I Hamsa Isnurdini said the department received a distress call at 1.10pm and seven fire engines with 42 officers and personnel were immediately dispatched to the scene within minutes.
“We managed to control the fire around 1.36pm while the whole operation ended around 2.10pm,” he said.
According to Hamsa, early investigation showed that about 15 to 18 rolls of used telephone wires were destroyed.
No casualty was reported while the cause of the fire and total loss are still under investigation, he said.
