SEREMBAN: The people have been reminded to give a strong mandate to the Barisan Nasional (BN) government with a two-third majority victory to enable the government to carry out policies more effectively.

Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said whether it is at state or federal level, a comfortable win will enable the government to decide without political pressure and constraints.

“We want the people to open their minds and urge them not to vote according to emotion without thinking about its consequences.

“We are not voting like ‘Akademi Fantasia’ where we vote for a singer without having to face any consequences, in an election our vote will impact everybody in Malaysia,” he told a media conference after a meeting with Negeri Sembilan civil servants, here yesterday.

He said if the government obtains less than two-thirds majority as yesterday, there would be various political bureaucracy and polemic holding back the country.

This would result in time-consuming processes which would delay national development for the people, he said.

“I am confident no people wants the government to spend its time resolving and deflecting political polemics compared to the pace of development now, he said.

In this regard, Mohamad said he would be seeking an audience with the Yang Di-Pertuan Besar Negeri Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir to inform him that it was not necessary for him to dissolve the state assembly in the near future as the assembly will dissolve by itself on March 26.

“Unless the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak advises Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’azam Shah to dissolve Parliament before that date, whereby the state will follow suit,” he said. — Bernama
