West Jazz Band sharing stage with international acts

MIRI: Home grown West Jazz Band from Sarawak will be sharing the stage with international acts in this year’s edition of Borneo Jazz at Pavillion, ParkCity Everly Hotel here from May 10 to 11.

Founded by Eugene Clifford and Sahfri Mustapha, the jazz band plays everything from Swing to Latin and electrifying Funk.

A talented foundation and gift from Sarawak. Westjazz was founded by Eugene Clifford and Sahfri in 2005. This freelance band is a melting pot of various cultures that perform a wide repertoire of music.

From the Hot Latin Rhythms, to the Swing Jazz Era and electrifying Funky Rhythms, the band is ever ready to jam and entertain.

Members of the Westjazz have been around as sessionists, some working as civilians while others are full time musicians and teachers.

Westjazz shares the love and passion for music everywhere, any place, anytime.

It caters to many performances, functions and events in Malaysia and is versatile, starting from a duo to trio, quartet and a full band or ensemble with vocal solo or vocal duo.

The other acts are Lisa Young Quartet from Australia, Scott Martin Latin Soul Band from US, Asian Jazz All Star Power Quartet (Singapore, Hong Kong, Philipines and Thailand), Nyons from Canada, Jump4Joy (Sweden), Hazmat Modie (US), Moi Blow – Gimme The Boots’ Release Concert from Germany.
