Impart Islamic teachings in creative manner, CM urges imams

KOTA KINABALU: The imams are advised to teach religious knowledge in an attractive manner to attract the younger generations to be interested in Islamic teachings.

The advice came from Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman when officiating at the closing of the Multaqa Imam-Imam Sabah seminar at Wisma Muis here yesterday.

About 1,000 Imams attended the seminar.

“We should be aware that the environment is very different nowadays where community leaders including Imams need to venture into various knowledge and skills in performing their duty according to the current challenges.

“New methods must be sought to ensure the yunger generations would continue to learn Islamic teachings,” he said.

Musa added that the State Government always recognized the role, contribution and high commitment by Imams in the State.

He said the Imams had contributed to positive development in the multi-racial community.

As community leaders in religious aspect, Musa said Imams must be creative in solving any issues among members of the mosque, especially issues involving religious.

At the event, Musa also witnessed the handing-over of RM15,400 for Tabung Wira Lahad Datu from the organizer.
