SIBU: Sibu Football Association had postponed its class 3 football referee course to the end of the month. It was initially planned to be held on March 16-17.
Association secretary Hajjis Abdul said the postponement was to enable more people to take part.
“We’ve received 20 participation forms from those in Sibu…we are waiting for the people from Sarikei, Mukah and Kapit to respond,” he said.
Participation fee is RM50 and entry forms are available from Hajjis (0194388643).
A referee coach from Football Association of Sarawak (FAS), Kuching will be conducting the course which was necessary to get more people to be interested in football refereeing.
“We used to have 40 to 50 referees here at one time but today, we only have about 20 referees of whom less than 10 are active,” Hajjis said while pointing out for more referees to be recruited and trained in view of the increasing number of football competitions being organised locally.
