Children in world of their own

LAHAD DATU: It was a quiet Saturday morning at the Fajar Harapan evacuation centre.

Everyone seemed to be caught up with their own activities.

The male adults were seen sitting at the corners of the hall as though sharing their respective experience following the stand off here, while the women sat close to each other, talking away.

But the children are the most happiest, with no worries in their minds.

The boys were in the world of their own, playing football in what appeared to be a futsal court, some are seen enjoying the swing and other games at a playground nearby the hall, while others resorted to the traditional game called ‘batu seremban’.

“I like it here. It’s is bigger than my house. I have a lot of friends and I can play all day long,” said four-year-old Norshafika Ismar.

Some 230 people are temporarily putting up at Fajar Harapan evacuation centre, of which one-third are children.
