KOTA KINABALU: Following the publication of its ‘We Care Humanitarian Aid’, Befrienders KK received tremendous response from members of the public who came forward to support its call to donate essential items for evacuees in Lahad Datu, Semporna and Kunak.

Yesterday, a 10-ton lorry was filled up with mattresses, clothing, shoes, sandals, slippers for adults/children (new/used), toiletries such as soaps, detergent, dish-washing liquid, toothbrush, toothpaste, pampers for children, sarong, biscuits, sweets, crayon, exercise books and many others for the people who were forced to leave their homes due to the intrusion in Lahad Datu.

“Befrienders KK would like to take this opportunity to thank all donors for responding to our ‘We Care Humanitarian Aid’. This testifies the unity and compassionate hearts of Malaysians.

“We would also like to thank the PDRM through their Police Volunteer Force (PVR) who had supported Befrienders KK to help those in distress and their sufferings. They had helped us in the coordination of loading, unloading and transportation from KK to Lahad Datu evacuation centres. Due to the quantity and weight of the essential items, their assistance has been of great help to Befrienders KK,” it said in a statement yesterday.

Befrienders KK also thank Akif Jaya Sdn Bhd for its assistance to provide space to store and collect the donated goods, members of the press especially the Borneo Post who had provided us with publicity.

The members of the press had also helped the State Government in maintaining unity and stability in Sabah.
