Govt fair to all entrepreneurs — Naroden

KUCHING: The government has always been fair in providing financial support, even to non-Bumiputera entrepreneurs.

Assistant Minister of Resource Planning Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais said loan statistics provided by government institutions showed that not less than 60 per cent of borrowers in 2010, 2011 and 2012 were non-Bumiputera entrepreneurs.

Therefore, he said, the scholarships, trainings, subsidies and assistance, and micro-credit loans provided to Bumiputera entrepreneurs should not be envied by their non-Bumiputera counterpart.

“If we do not help the Bumiputera community, we will be facing problems, especially in the employment sector and market. Maybe we also need to fully depend on foreign labour,” he said at the opening of Fifty Six Hotel (56) at Jalan Tun Jugah here yesterday.

Naroden was representing Second Minister of Resource Planning and Environment Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan in officiating at the event.

Naroden, who is also Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Bumiputera Entrepreneur Development), said most Bumiputeras were workers and civil servants. Only a small segment of them are entrepreneurs.
