CYBERJAYA: Malaysia’s lead ministry and lead university for innovation have paired up to get down to the ground to inspire Malaysians to embrace innovation.

Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Maximus Johnity Ongkili launched the initiative that will see the university working closely with the ministry, through the Malaysian Foundation for Innovation to rally Malaysians on the ground.

The minister triggered the launch of the Inovasi Negara mission through the establishment of the Limkokwing Innovation Acceleration Centre.

He also witnessed the exchange of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Malaysian Foundation for Innovation, better known as Yayasan Inovasi Malaysia.

The collaboration between Limkokwing University and YIM will see the training of 10,000 micro enterprise owners to improve their knowledge of new technology and new business trends to move their businesses to new levels.

As part of the mission 300 grassroots innovators will be selected for special recognition and award recipients will be inducted into an advisory panel that will provide recommendations on how we can educate and motivate people on the ground to become problem-solvers and innovators.

Limkokwing University has also pledged to provide 100 scholarships for grassroots innovators to take up diploma/degree study of selected programmes.
